October 2014

Welcome to the information page for the Columbus Day Parade Committee. The Committee is proud to have completed a number of events as they continue to march to October 11, 2014 and the Denver Columbus Day Parade!

Our most recent updates are as follows:

The Parade...

Staging is between 8 am and 9 am on October 11, 2014. Staging begins on Bannock street with a turn down West 14th Ave., using side streets as needed. Over the next two weeks the staging committee will be contacting each entrant with their staging location and a request to enter the staging area from Fox Street and 14th. There is a parking lot on the south/west corner for those who need to park. All entrants will need to clearly display (on the dashboard) a pass provided by the Columbus Day Parade Staging Committee. It is absolutely imperative that all participants arrive between 8 and 9 am October 11, as anyone arriving after 9:15 am runs the risk of not being in their assigned location and thus added to the back of the parade.

The Columbus Festival after the parade, at the Sons of Italy Lodge - 5925 West 32nd in Wheat Ridge...

All are welcome to the after parade event at the Sons of Italy Lodge. The event begins at approximately 11, with food and drinks for purchase, an Italian country store and other vendors and advertising from within the community. The Columbus Day Parade committee will have a table where we will be selling raffle tickets and T-shirts with our new design! The raffle tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $25.00. The first prize is $1000!

There will be a Denver Columbus Day History exhibit illustrating the parade through the years as well as artifacts donated to the parade committee for display.

Finally, our parade dignitaries...

Parade Starter - Fred Marzano

Grand Marshall - Sal Villano

Italian of the Year - Jay Cimino

King & Queen - Clyde Weatherford Jr. & Kay Ponzio

Prince & Princess - Hunter and Tatiana Hamilton

will receive awards for this prestigious occasion at approximately 12:30.

At 2 pm, the raffle prizes will be drawn. Thanks to our clubs and community for their generous donations of prizes for the event!

The final planning meeting will be on October 8th, 2014 at the Sons of Italy Hall at 7 pm, hope to see you there!
